Damn, I'm sexy!

Love is Just a Game

I'm sure you've all heard the phrase, "love is just a game," and I am here to say that I agree. The only problem is that someone forgot to include the instructions. So what does that leave us with then? We are left with a box full of random pieces, cards, and dice. So love is cryptic and impossible to figure out. Who cares? Well, I began thinking, maybe it's not impossible to figure out love. What game is love like? I've come up with a few parallels with well known games.

Love is like Monopoly. Some property costs more than others. Similarly, some girls are more expensive than other. I suppose you could consider the price of a property as an investment. Some property, like some relationships, have better returns on the investment. No one wants to say, "My girl is like Baltic Avenue." You want to advance to Illinois or take a stroll down Boardwalk. Another reason love is like Monopoly is that some moves will get your ass thrown in jail. If you handle things stalker style or R. Kelly style, playing the game of love will put you in the slammer. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.

Love is like Jenga. You invest your time and energy into it, and while you're playing, you're getting higher and higher. Things are intense and you feel like you're on top of the world. There seems to be no limit to how high you can go. Sometimes someone makes a small mistake and everything comes toppling down. You often realize after the fact, there wasn't much holding up your game.

Love is like Life. By the chance of the spin, you end up with kids, sometimes twins. You get the picture.

Love is like Risk. At face value it's about treaties and compromises. I will let you have this area if you let me have this area. I won't attack you here if you don't attack me there. When you get down to it, Risk is like love. It's about conquest and domination. It's a constant power struggle with only one winner.

Love is like Taboo. You're not allowed to say certain things while you're playing. There are a few things that come to mind. "You look like you're gaining weight," is one of these things. For those of you that are stupid and have said things like this, you know your girlfriend sounds like that buzzer.

So love is just a game, a game without instructions. It is not impossible to figure out though. There's still lots more games out there and my search for complete understanding on love continues.
